What is the Ecobee threshold?

According to Ecobee, the threshold is a setting that allows you to configure your HVAC systems for improved energy efficiency and prevent damage to the systems of your home.

Moreover, the Ecobee company recommends contacting Ecobee Support directly if you are unfamiliar with your HVAC systems capabilities and configurations.

How to set the temperature threshold

The following instructions are specifically for the Ecobee Smart Thermostat Premium, Ecobee Smart Thermostat Enhanced, Ecobee Smart Thermostat with voice control, Ecobee4, Ecobee3 Lite, and Ecobee3.

Please remember that you can make these changes from the Ecobee app or the web portal. Changing the threshold is only completed on the physical thermostat.

  1. Tap the main menu.
  2. Tap settings.
  3. Tap installation settings.
  4. Tap thresholds.

The Ecobee will default to automatic for configuring and staging. This means the device will use smart algorithms to determine when the cooling or heating systems will be turned on and the duration of those cycles.

Also, this will configure when to turn the fans on to dissipate the air at the most optimal times for saving energy.

Suppose you would prefer to program your Ecobee thresholds yourself. To do so, select manual, which will remove the automatic factory-default settings and allow you to input your own perimeters.

Should the Ecobee be set to Auto?

Selecting the auto mode function is a wise choice for those who live in mild climates or for the weeks between the changes of the seasons. The auto setting will keep your home at a designated temperature and prevent the HVAC systems from running unnecessarily.

Why is my Ecobee schedule not working?

Generally, a few variables will cause the Ecobee schedule to malfunction. Firstly, check the settings and see if the correct schedule is programmed into the settings.

Suppose that's not the issue. Next, double-check if there are any holds, those will prevent schedules from executing correctly.

Doubled check if the Smart Recovery feature is enabled. If so, that feature will override the schedule because its job is to ensure your home is at the best temperature possible throughout the day and night while keeping energy usage tallied.

Disable the Smart Recovery feature and return to the settings to set your schedule. Please note that all manual changes to the Ecobee thermostat will result in a hold, which will override the schedules.

How to disable the Smart Recovery feature

On the Ecobee thermostat

  1. Tap the main menu and tap the settings, and select preferences.
  2. Press the Heating Smart Recovery or Cooling Smart Recovery.
  3. Tap to enable or disable the feature.
